A Man, A Plan, A Canal. Panama.
well, maybe not a canal. BUT — simeon had a pretty good Plan for how we should proceed on the “What The Hell Do We Do Now?” front, since we have a cabinet in bad shape and a monitor that we don’t know whether it works or not. he proposed the following, which i’ve modified a little with other things we’ll need to do:
- Clean everything. (before or after cleaning: test monitor, either junk or keep)
- Replace Controls
- Fit a piece wood that will replace the original piece
- Obtain lots of different colored wire
- Get an ipac (possibly look into a GPWiz -tony)
- Get a loaner pc and monitor
- Plan out the holes for the joystick and buttons and the placement of the ipac (this will determine the length that the wire will need to be cut)
- Drill the holes for the joystick and buttons
- Put in joysticks and buttons without screwing them in
- Wire them up – (this will take at least a couple of hours to get right)
- Configure the PC and Ipac and test in mame
- re-wire cabinet items (marquee, coin box)
- replace cabinet stuff that needs it (sides?, bezel, back door, power supply?, etc.)
just a rough plan, but at least it’s a start. now we just need to go get cleaning supplies (and a tarp, it’s supposed to rain).
